New topic request: Does anyone know anything about Lucas Taylor embezzling money from the tribe when he worked there? It's usually about this time of the year when he comes and asks for money for his 4 love of the game business. He receives around 100K per year from the nation if I'm correct and according to this http://www.4loveofthegame.org/images/stories/pdf/entryformmadness.pdf charges 300 bucks for entering the March tournament. I heard that when he worked for the tribe he embezzled money and paid back a portion of it and that there is a case against him in the AG's office that is being swept under the rug because of the 'buddy' system. He was said to have been running this business out of the office when he worked for communications and that last year's communications audit showed some red flags. He was also said to have been using the tribe's printing machines to make t-shirts and flyers for 4 love of the game. Numerous people have said that this was going on. Does anyone have any more information about this or know how a citizen can get a copy of the audit or can we get information from the AG? I want to call my reps if this is true and tell them not to vote to give Lucas any more of our tribe's money if it is true. It's an outrage.

Just checking out Lucas Taylor's 4LoveoftheGame wedsite as suggested. One thing I notice on the entry form is the usual disclaimer for the "Indemnity and Hold Harmless" clause: "I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless 4 Love of the Game, Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Host Gymnasiums and/or related facilities."
I would be interested in why the Creek Nation is on the list as one of the entities. Is the Creek Nation officially owner/part owner of this organization? Other than the tribe's money contributions, I understood that 4Love was a complete 501C3 designation and stood on its own, and without any connection with the Creek Nation. Yes, we would like to know where that audit results are. If memory serves, Mr. Taylor resigned when informed he was being or was to be audited.

I agree there needs to be an audit to keep everything on the up and up but I still think Mr. Taylor is doing a great service regardless. The Native American kids need something like this to strive for. They need to understand goals and I think it is a great builder of character. We should applaud him and his crew but like everyone else in something like this he has to be regulated because of the amount of funds being distributed.

No one has questioned the purpose of the organization, nor its benefits. And what Lucas is doing is NOT A SERVICE, as he is highly paid from the organization. What is and has been questioned is the questionable finances, on why the Creek Nation bligthly hands over many, many thousands of dollars to it, without asking for any accountibility for the money we give. I kind of think Lucas began this operation with only the thought that it would be sustained by the Nation. He has never reported who else contributes, nor how much. Yes, it does need to be regulated and reported as long as we are contributors.

Sadly what you have described is the way the tribes funds are handled on a every day basis. Huge sums of money (in the Millions) are approiated by the council, for a cause, building, a department, and that is the end of any kind of accountablity or oversite for what the funds are spent for.

A lot of people wanted me to out of Creek Nation, and I deserved that. I am not a saint, never claimed to be. As for 4 Love of the Game, I have never received payment or compensation for what I do. We are working on trying to do that now. I have been without a job and a paycheck for six months now. I don't expect anyone to feel sorry for me, you reap what you sow. As for the money the tribe has given us, we always go thru an audit. And if you don't want the National Council to give us any more money then 4 Love of the Game will never again ask the National Council for a donation or special appropriation. Just please use the money to develop a program within the tribe to help our youth. As for other funding, we generate revenue from our tournaments. Sometimes we just break even. Our Madness In March tournament will incur the following fees: Gym Cost-$4,000, Trophies-$5,000, Backpacks - $6,000, Referees-$5,200, Awards Banquet - $1,500, Hospitality room - $1,000, Clean Up-$1,200-$1,500, Security $750-$1,000, concession start up - $1,500, Insurance - $500, scoreboard-$1,300 and scholarships - $4,000 - $5,000. To date, we have awarded over 40 scholarships. It costs us around $30,000 to run this event. We have four events with similiar costs and we have awarded scholarships at these events as well. I have failed in a lot of aspects of my life. I am not a role model and never claimed to be. We do this because we love our Indian student/athletes. We also do this because the tribe has no program for something like this. No matter what I say, do or provide you guys will always find a reason to hate me and discount what I have said. That's ok because i deserve a lot of it. God is my judge and he will hold me accountable. I am already paying for those sins right now. I have truly been humbled. I am nobody. So if you don't want us to be a part of Creek Nation and not help Creek Kids, as much as it hurts me, we will honor your wishes and help other tribal citizens. For those who i have let down and disappointed I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Just pray that God continues to straighten my life out. I am sure someone will answer and say "Oh here goes mr. humble again. Now he is hiding behind God." Your right, God is my refuge. Please pray for me and I will continue to pray for you and this website. And please do whatever you can to help out our youth. They need support. So if you want to crucify me, i will give you the hammer and nails. I have no leg to stand on. God has done a work in me that nobody can change or dispute. You know Lucas for whatever reasons you decided to write voc readers I want you to know personally that I totally believe in what your organization has done and hope to continue to do. I attended the first Warriors shootout centered around the Thanksgiving Holidays when students were out of school. And sat in the audience when the first March Madness Tournment was held. Talk about native talent it is so exciting to sit and watch them play their hearts out in a gym packed full of indian people. Those of us who used to play basketball now sit in the audience remembering our school days and the many independent games we played, man you talk about rough. We are grandparents now coaching from the bench and nothing gives me more pleasure than watching my granchildren participating with other indian youth through out creek nation. I don't know anything about your past, I just know that I have watched our tribe appropriate monies to many places that we can't see the fruits of. If the nation has no plans to incorporate some kind of sport activity or whatever the case may be for our youth, then I say ask for the money. There is accountability with appropriations monies, if there wasn't I am sure that finance would be reporting to the Chief and the appropriations committee.

You are another member that will do nothing to correct the corruption in the tribe. The finance department just writes the checks they have no responsiblity to see where the money goes or how it is spent wake up before its too late

I see a man, Lucas Taylor, whose name has been slandered here. I see others, whose names are hidden, continue to berate and condemn that same man and talk about him hiding behind God.
Are you aware of the irony here? With you hiding behind your keyboard? If you have something to say, please do so and take ownership of it!

Lucas dont pay attention to all of the hateful people of the same tribe you come from these are suppose to be a big creek family instead all they do is gripe about someone thats making a difference in our youths lives just keep doing what your organization is doing and go forward with a program that has made a huge impact on our youth ,lucas no matter what you do for kids all over the nation there will always be someone that dont like it ,you have to understand that they just want our once great nation to continue to just crumble and fall apart just like its doing everyday

People, this man (Lucas), has just stated that he is not perfect, no one is! Are you? Everyone makes mistakes, but the most important thing is that you learn from them. It takes a big person to admit their faults. I don't even know this man, but applaud being man enough to say "I was wrong." Like the saying goes, "Fool me once, Shame on You. Fool me twice, Shame on Me." I believe everyone deserves a second chance! If there is actually more to the story, please inform. This statement is purely based on what was read, because I don't even know this man.

The reasoning and comments printed here are exactly why nothing will ever change at the MCN. No one is ever held responsible for their thievery and other felonies. Every time someone gets caught commiting a crime all you fakes have to do is start to talk about "O how I must get back to god" . Lucas even said it himself. "MY shield is GOD I've gone back to hide in his house. Come here any Sunday night and I'll show you how to use him to hide your lies and thievery. And boo hoo he's been out of a check for six months. Then he says he never recieved a check from "LOVE OF THE GAME". In the next breath he states that he " working to do that now. Thats what it says... he never recieved payment but "were working to do that now" his own words. So comon get out the hankerchiefs and lets all have a good cry....then its back to business as usual. I wonder what your god really thinks. You are the worst kind of liar Lucas. You go to great length to spout this crap. Why don't you tell all here what you did here at the MCN that was so bad you had to quit aqnd run to gods house to hide. Isn't confession of you crimes anywhere in your recovery program. You should at least serve six months in jail then you and god could buddy up again. Lucas I don't hate you but you should pay for your crimes. The citizens of the MCN trusted you, then you repaid that trust with deciet lies and thievery. You should just fade away like another bad memory after you've paid your debt to the great citizens of the MCN.

I met Lucas years ago when he was entering the work place. Good young man. Scarred now? Sure. Good man? Sure. Scars teach us things. As long as he learns from his scars and makes it right with himself and the government he has nothing to explain to me.
My kid played in the tournament this year. My first FTLOTG event. It was fun and inspriring. Kids from all over the place competing for the fun of it all for a good cause. We'll be back.
Just because someone makes a mistake in one aspect of their lives it doesn't taint the whole. Grace, peace, etc.

How many second chances will their be before the Mvskoke Nation goes broke. No second chances when someone steals from the Creek people. A crime against all citizens. For the record I'm not saying anyone took anything. I don't know but if they did or do, no second chance. Your right I'm not perfect either but I would never take from the creek people. Remenber back in the day lashes with a whip were given for crimes in the Nation. In todays world it's community services picking up trash. No one is scarrrrrrd.

provide the ministry that you are doing to these young people, Only the Lord knows
your heart and He will provide the things your need spiritually and physically.
Don't concern yourself with the stones
people want to cast, that's just another mountain you have to climb but
God gives us strength and endurance to overcome these barriers. My prayers are with you and you will overcome!...
